What has studies revealed about the Japanese diet? They say the secret to their healthy lifestyle is in their diet. Japanese, according to some studies have vibrant health and longer life or higher life expectancy. They also don't have lots of cases of cardiovascular diseases, dementia also obesity.

This is because the Japanese-style of foods contains lots of fish, fruits, vegetables, seafood and soybeans. That really is the mystery of Japanese diet. Their foods presentation is quite unique or odd but you can be

sure that they are healthy and nutritious.

There is magic behind the Japanese diet:

* They eat with their eyes-They do some art presentation with the foods they served and place it in little dishes, bowls and plates. They encourage you to slow down in taking the food and savor their beauty.
*They serve food in smaller portions-They like to serve their food in smaller portions than bigger helpings of food and they get accustomed to that amount, therefore overeating is avoided.
*They eat rice-rice is the foundation of their foods. They cooked it with less butter and oil. It is a complex carbohydrates that can make someone feel full for a longer period of time, therefore less feeling of hunger.
*They are vegetable lovers- They are known as a vegetable-crazed nation. That is a saying, that you eat lots of vegetables and expect longer life. vegetables are normal part of their diet.
*They eat more fish- Fish is a good source of omega-3 fatty acids so its really healthy. They prefer to eat fish than

other kinds of meat. Red meat is less common.
*They are soy-lover- You can find lots of soy-based dishes in Japan like tofu and miso. A good source of protein perfect alternative to red meat.

Japanese food items

The following are some of the healthy Japanese food items:
1.Fish-Their favorite include fresh tuna, salmon, mackerel, herring and sardines. Their diet centers mainly on seafood.
2. Sushi-Not really a raw fish, the raw fish is called sashimi. Sushi is the rice eaten cold with vinegar flavor and some sugar to balance the sourness.
3. Seaweed- They include seaweeds in their diet like Nori, Wakame, Konbu etc. The seaweed is excellent source of vitamin A and C, protein, minerals and other nutrients.
4. Shiitake- similar to tofu, shiitake mushrooms are high in protein at the same time low in calories.
5. Tofu-or the soybean curd is another great source of protein without too much calories too.
6. Green tea- It has a powerful antioxidant properties and even some relaxing effects. It can even maintain cholesterol levels. Green tea is made using fresh or young leaves and are not roasted.
7. Noodles- Their noodles is their alternative to rice or pasta. They use buckwheat on their noodles and this buckwheat is rich in bioflavonoids, minerals and protein.
